Greg Arampatzis is the newest member of Team Greek America, our virtual team of athletes who compete for a cause bigger than themselves by creating their own or participating in organized races to raise funds for our charitable endeavors.
Greg, a Slatington, Pennsylvania native, IT analyst and dedicated runner, is planning to run his first-ever 100-mile race on November 6, 2021, when he’ll take part in the Rim to River 100 in West Virginia. The race will be among 30 to 50 others that he plans to complete within the year.
His fundraising goal is $5,000 with proceeds to benefit our Project Hope for Greece #ChildrenOfGreece campaign which is currently supporting six Greek children’s charities we’ve selected based on their excellent track record.
As of February 2021, our campaign has already sent $35,000 in support with the latest grant benefitting the ELIZA Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
Greg says he joined Team Greek America in an effort to reconnect with and strengthen his Greek heritage and roots, which trace back to northern Greece near Thessaloniki. And there was no better way to do this, he says, than by providing much-needed support for disenfranchised children in the country of his ancestors — especially by using his own athletic talents.
As a 38-year-old father of three, Greg says he found his passion for fitness, health and wellness through a transformational weight loss journey.
“Through my journey of losing over 100 pounds I have found my passion for fitness, nutrition, a growth mindset, living a fulfilling life and helping others do the same,” he says, adding that he is now an aspiring nutrition and wellness coach.
