Between June 2 and August 12, twenty seven volunteers from the United States and Canada will be in Greece, offering their time and talents to the country’s vulnerable populations.
The Greek America Foundation’s Greek America Corps program, now in its fourth year, supports the work of established non-profit charities in Greece by giving young North Americans the opportunity to serve and support important humanitarian relief efforts.
These kids are selflessly serving those in need and will be working, on average, between 6-8 hours per day feeding homeless people; gathering leftover food from farmer’s markets; cleaning up parks and beaches and spending time with abandoned and orphaned children who have suffered significant trauma.
Thanks to the generosity of several donors, we raised more than $100,000 to fund the basic expenses of the volunteers, including their accommodation and transportation, as well as various meals, cultural excursions and other costs while in Greece.
Our goal is to share their efforts with more people who may want to say “thank you” by sponsoring one or more of their activities during their volunteer program.
For example— prior to their night runs to offer aid to homeless people in the streets of Athens, volunteers will visit local grocery stores to assemble food and hygiene kits. On average, a grocery store run for one night costs about $203.28 and covers items like hygiene products, wet wipes, croissants and other non-perishable food items that are distributed to people in need.
One grocery store run consists of 14 “survival kits” which cost $14.52 USD each.

Another project involves planning and organizing visits to museums and other educational activities with the disenfranchised children from the various shelters where our volunteers will be serving. These educational and cultural events require supplies and admission costs, on average at $100 for the group.
We also have numerous lunches and dinners that are not included in the cost of the program that are available for sponsorship. An average group meal costs $150.
Would you like to reward the volunteers with an ice cream stop during one of their days of service on the streets? This costs $50.
Please join us in thanking these North American young people for their service.
Unless asked to be anonymous, your generosity will be shared with the volunteers, as well as on our various social media channels. After you click the donation link below, you will be asked how you’d like your donation acknowledged.
