By your side, across the ocean
Dipla Sou brings LGBTQI+ Greek Americans and allies together to build community, raise awareness and support people in Greece.
At the heart of the Greek America Foundation’s program is our support for 11528 – Dipla Sou, “By Your Side,” Greece’s LGBTQI+ helpline. Alongside that commitment, we create opportunities for people to connect, learn from one another and turn solidarity into practical help.
What we do
Support the helpline
We bring together donors and supporters to help sustain the work of 11528 – Dipla Sou and strengthen the connection between the Greek diaspora and the people it serves.
Build understanding
We share the helpline’s work and GAF’s role in supporting it, keeping our community connected to the purpose and impact of its generosity.
Bring people together
Our webinar and speaker series creates space for conversation, shared experiences and connections among LGBTQI+ Greek Americans and allies.
Conversations that connect us
The series combines updates on Dipla Sou and the Foundation’s support with guest conversations that reflect the interests and experiences of our community. Topics may include professional growth, culture, personal journeys and community life.
Each gathering offers a chance to learn about the work we support, hear a new perspective and get to know the people helping move it forward. Join our dedicated email list for invitations and program updates.
The work we support in Greece
11528 – Dipla Sou offers psychological support to LGBTQI+ people in Greece, as well as families and educators. Its work addresses questions and challenges around sexual orientation and gender identity, helping people find someone who will listen and understand.
The Foundation supports this work through fundraising and public awareness as part of Project Hope for Greece. The helpline is operated by our partner organization in Greece.
For information about the helpline’s services and how to contact its team, visit the official 11528 website.
A foundation of solidarity
Our work grew from a community effort to stand beside LGBTQI+ people in Greece. Supporters gathered in Fort Lauderdale and New York to raise awareness and funds, helping the Foundation make its first grant to the helpline.
That history continues to inform the program: bringing people together, sharing the impact of their support and keeping a lasting connection with Greece.
