In honor of my 53rd birthday on December 12, 2020, I’ve launched this fundraiser to support the non-profit organization which I founded more than a decade ago.
I started the Greek America Foundation because I felt it was time to get beyond the Greek stereotypes of breaking plates and baklava; I felt that our heritage and ideals went beyond the “food, faith and family” that we all grew up to espouse and celebrate.
Therefore, I started an organization which instead emphasizes ideals such as philotimo, philanthropy, the pursuit of excellence and innovation — all core components of the Greek existence.
We’ve done incredible work over the years including hosting transformative events (like the Gabby Awards) uniting thousands of people from throughout the world; sending dozens of young North Americans to volunteer in Greece through our Greek America Corps program and providing hundreds of thousands of dollars in humanitarian aid for Greek charities via Project Hope for Greece.
We have even more life-changing projects planned in the near future… But we need your support — now more than ever.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to host our fifth Gabby Awards in May 2020. This is normally our premier fundraising event which over the years has proven critical to our sustainability. The cancellation of this event, as well our auxiliary in-person events, has had a severe negative financial impact.
All contributions to this fundraiser will directly benefit the charitable and philanthropic endeavors of the Greek America Foundation.
Please consider making a donation to my 53rd Birthday Fundraiser to help us offer more impactful programming and change even more lives on both sides of the Atlantic.
