As we stand on the edge of a new year, the Greek America Foundation is proud to launch a bold, participatory initiative—one that moves philanthropy out of theory and into daily life.
Beginning January 1, 2026, we invite our community to take part in the 2026 Do Good Challenge.
This is a challenge rooted in action.
In creativity.
In responsibility.
We’re asking individuals, families, creatives, athletes, entrepreneurs, and companies to make one commitment in 2026:
Create a single project, event, or moment that does good. And dedicate it to supporting the philanthropic work of the Greek America Foundation.
That’s it. One thing. Done with intention. Done with a purpose.
Your membership and donations are vital–they sustain our work everyday. But this challenge builds on that support, by asking us to go a step further together.
This is about making “doing good” a purpose, a part of your life.
About turning generosity into posture, not performance.
The inspiration comes directly from the Greek America Foundation’s Manifesto:
Philanthropy is not a check you write in December.
It is a posture. A rhythm. A way of life.
We do good— not for recognition or reward,
but because we carry a responsibility to those with less.
We volunteer not as charity, but as solidarity.
An act that transforms the giver as much as the receiver.
When we lift others, we elevate ourselves.
What Could “Doing Good” Look Like? There’s no single formula. That’s the point.
Are you a musician or performer?
Dedicate one concert, gig, or performance in 2026 to benefit the Foundation. You can do this as a live event with proceeds from ticket sales benefiting our work, or even use Facebook Live or Instagram Live to host a “virtual live” event.
Do you own a restaurant or business?
Choose one day this year and designate it as “Greek America Foundation Day” and designate a portion of your proceeds.
Is your birthday coming up?
Turn it into a fundraiser. We’ll help you set it up with your own personalized fundraising page so you can share it. Or even better, if you’re having a party, ask for donations instead of gifts.
Are you an athlete running an organized marathon, 10K, or local race?
Turn your miles into impact with a personalized fundraising page. If you don’t want to participate in something organized, you can create your own race in the city you live, or perhaps, somewhere you’re visiting. We can help you map it all out and create your race. We’re full of ideas for this.
Hosting a dinner, gathering, or party?
Make it matter. Make it benefit our cause. Make it more than a gathering. Ask guests to bring a donation instead of a bottle of wine, or sweets.
Big or small, what counts is the intention and the follow-through.
This Challenge Was Inspired by You
Over the years, many members of our community have done exactly this, without being asked. The creation and launching of the 2026 Do Good Challenge simply gives it a name and a structure.
Steve Kriaris, proprietor of Kolonaki Fine Wines & Spirits, donated $1 from every bottle of Greek wine sold over a month—raising over $3,000. Niko Roros organized his own run through the streets of Rome to support the Children of Greece campaign and Marielena Balouris ran her 10k race anyway when it was canceled during the pandemic—and raised funds for GAF. A team of Chicago musicians, led by Dimitrios Dallas, hosted a Facebook live concert that raised more than $3,000. Pop singer Evangelia donated proceeds from a June concert in New York City to our cause.
This is legacy in motion.
Why this Matters?
Legacy is not built on what you earn.
It is built on what you give.
As people rooted in Greek values and in the long tradition of philotimo and philanthropy that is a part of our cultural DNA, we carry a responsibility to lift others when we can.
The Do Good Challenge is an invitation to act on that responsibility and to support the work of the Greek America Foundation and its charitable and philanthropic endeavors.
