It’s been quite a year for the Greek America Foundation and now is a great time to ask a few minutes of your time.
More than ever, we are dedicated to our core ideals of promoting Greek culture, philanthropy, education, and charitable aid to Greece– a country on the front lines of an unfolding global refugee crisis and a decade-long crippling economic crisis.
I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished and felt it appropriate to ask you to join our efforts.
In the past year alone, we’ve:
-Hired Dr. Jennifer Kellogg as our full-time executive director who has years of experience in international education and academia and built a dynamic board of directors with 12 leaders from throughout the United States and Canada
-Hosted the magical Gabby Awards weekend and showcased our community’s excellence at Carnegie Hall, the world’s most prestigious stage for hundreds who participated
-Visited the earthquake-devastated village of Vrisa to arrange long-term food distribution for dozens of impacted families with over $45,000 raised from donors in just three months

More than 30 families will have food for an entire year, thanks to the generosity of our donors.
-Funded the complete refurbishment of fishing boats for two Greek humanitarian fishermen personally responsible for rescuing thousands of families from the Aegean sea
-Supported the food distribution program of Mama Maria of Samos who feeds more than 1,500 people monthly from her own kitchen

Maria Makrogianni distributing food at the Samos refugee camp where more than 3,000 people are housed in tents and horrible conditions.
-Funded the production of the award winning documentary film “Border Souls” which showcases the efforts of a Greek monk to feed tens of thousands of destitute people from his monastery in northern Greece
-Released the historic documentary film “Life Will Smile” which tells an important WWII story of Greek humanity and courage in the face of evil. The early development of the documentary was funded exclusively with donors from the Greek America Foundation
-Supported the academic dreams of three PhD students from Greece with scholarships that support their studies in North America thanks to the generosity of Constantine and Patricia Mavroyannis
-Launched a life-changing Service Learning volunteer program which sent 10 North American college students to volunteer in Greece with unaccompanied refugee minors for an entire month
Our plans for 2018 are ambitious. And we NEED you to join the movement and support our efforts.
-We will honor the 2018 Class of Greek America’s Forty Under 40 and also host our National Innovation Conference in Philadelphia
-We will launch an important fundraising effort focusing on the #ChildrenOfGreece and support Greek children’s charities through our Project Hope for Greece campaign
-We will award a new round of scholarships for North American students to spend a semester in Athens
And with your help, a lot more.
We have a lot to do and are committed to our core ideals of philanthropy, culture and education– AND WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
Please consider becoming a member of the Greek America Foundation movement today.
