The Greek America Foundation gratefully announces a generous six-figure gift from The Eugenia H. Tsimis Foundation. This significant contribution will strengthen our philanthropic and charitable efforts to support vulnerable individuals, children and families in Greece through our various programs.
The gift represents a meaningful investment in the foundation’s longstanding commitment to turning generosity into practical assistance. Through Project Hope for Greece, that commitment takes shape through support for charitable organizations and community initiatives responding to people’s needs with care and dignity.
Established in response to Greece’s financial and humanitarian crisis, Project Hope for Greece has connected the generosity of supporters in North America with relief efforts throughout the country for more than a decade. Its work has included food assistance for families affected by the earthquake in Vrisa on Lesvos, school supplies for children in the same community, and support for local people providing meals and shelter during the refugee crisis.
Children and families have remained central to this work. Through the #ChildrenOfGreece initiative, the foundation has supported organizations addressing children’s health, education, protection and well-being. Past support has reached organizations including HOPEgenesis, SOS Children’s Villages and the Greek Council for Refugees, alongside more recent assistance for Ronald McDonald House Charities Greece and an elementary school in Chania, Crete.
The foundation’s commitment to Greece also extends to service. Since its launch in 2017, Greek America Corps has brought young people from North America to work alongside charitable organizations in Greece. Volunteers have supported unaccompanied refugee children and other vulnerable communities, building personal connections while putting the values of philanthropy and volunteerism into practice.
Together, these efforts reflect a belief that a connection to Greece carries a responsibility to care for the people who live there. Financial assistance, local partnerships and volunteer service each play a part in sustaining that commitment.
