Continuing her longstanding support of the Greek America Foundation’s efforts and work, one of Hollywood’s most celebrated actresses has confirmed her participation at the Gabby Awards in New York City during the weekend of June 17th.
“Olympia Dukakis has been long-time supporters of our efforts,” according to Gregory Pappas, founder of the Greek America Foundation, adding that “In fact, she’s been there from the beginning, contributing her time, talents and treasures to the organization’s efforts and for that— for her— we are grateful.”
Although she won’t be reviving her Academy Award winning role as Rose in the film Moonstruck, Olympia Dukakis will appear on stage— as she has done at every previous Gabby Awards ceremony, continuing to show her support.
In 2009, at the inaugural Gabby Awards in Chicago, she was presented with the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. In an emotional presentation two years later on Ellis Island, she presented the same award to her first cousin and former U.S. Presidential contender Michael Dukakis.
In Hollywood in 2013, Olympia received her official Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony during the weekend which attracted over a thousand Gabby Awards guests and friends of Dukakis’. The Star was bestowed for her long and illustrious career in theater and film.
The Greek America Foundation nominated Olympia to receive the Hollywood Star and handled all expenses related to its placement on Hollywood Boulevard, alongside all of the greats from film and television who memorialize the Walk of Fame.
