These are the connections you help make possible through Greek America Corps.
Our volunteers travel from North America to work alongside nonprofit partners in Greece. They bring patience to a classroom, companionship to a senior’s day and willing hands to organizations supporting people facing hardship. In the process, they discover what it means to put compassion—and the values of our heritage—into practice.
Now, an anonymous donor has offered our community an opportunity to help that work continue: one dollar for every dollar we give, up to $50,000 in matching support.
Your $100 becomes $200.
Your $500 becomes $1,000.
Your $1,000 becomes $2,000.
Your $5,000 becomes $10,000 for Greek America Corps.
If our community raises $50,000, the donor will add another $50,000. Together, we can provide $100,000 for the program’s annual sustainability, including scholarships for North American students to participate.
All amounts welcome. Dollar-for-dollar matching applies while matching funds remain.
What it means to show up
In classrooms, volunteers have helped children practice Greek and English, shared books and music, and joined games and creative activities. On Chios this summer, work alongside METAdrasi included lessons, play and planting herbs together. The program gives volunteers time to listen, learn and build relationships through ordinary moments.
That same willingness to be present has taken volunteers into senior homes, food-support projects and neighborhood initiatives. Sometimes the work is practical: preparing meals, collecting food or caring for a shared space. Sometimes it is simply making time for another person.
Service that stays with a young person
Greek America Corps connects young people to Greece through relationships and responsibility. Working alongside local partners, volunteers encounter lives and experiences different from their own. They see how much a person can contribute by arriving ready to help—and ready to learn.
Scholarships help make that opportunity accessible to students who need financial assistance. Annual support also sustains the program around them: the planning, coordination and partnerships that make a meaningful service experience possible.

The challenge concludes on November 21 at Greek America Honors. Between now and then, every eligible dollar we raise can unlock another dollar from the anonymous donor, until the $50,000 matching commitment is exhausted.
Behind every gift is the possibility of another connection: a student able to participate, a partner supported in its work, a person met with time and care.
