We are proud to announce a $5,000 grant to the 7th Experimental Elementary School in Hania, on the island of Crete. The funds were used to purchase equipment and items that were needed at the school to enhance the students’ learning experience.
Items included interactive screens and tablets that will be used in classrooms, as well as numerous musical instruments.
The grant comes from our “Project Hope for Greece” campaign which provides support to charities and organizations in Greece providing support to children.
In addition to our financial support, the school is also an important partner of our Greek America Corps summer volunteer program. We kicked off the collaboration in 2024 when our volunteers joined staff and students at the school and spent several hours painting murals and beautifying the outside schoolyard.
“We want our support in Greece to serve as a springboard for children to thrive,” said Gregory C. Pappas, founder and president of the Greek America Foundation, adding that “As cliche as it sounds, children are our future and it’s our responsibility to give them the foundation they need to mature and build a better society.”
A heartfelt message of appreciation was sent by the administration of the school, and was also posted to the school’s Facebook page. (The original Greek-language message follows the English translation)

With immense gratitude and joy, the educational community of the 7th Experimental Primary School of Chania expresses its heartfelt thanks to the Greek America Foundation and its founder, Greg Pappas, for their generous donation to our school.
This valuable contribution includes a piano, various musical instruments, a printer, a telephone, two interactive whiteboards, and two tablets, thus addressing essential needs of our school and providing our students with new opportunities for learning and creative expression.
This donation doesn’t just enhance our school’s technology – it fills existing and significant gaps, improving the quality of education that we offer. Through music and technology, our students acquire new skills, cultivate their imagination and creativity, and have the opportunity to participate in innovative educational activities that enrich their learning experience.
The interactive whiteboards and tablets modernize teaching, making learning more dynamic, accessible, and interactive, while the musical instruments and piano open new horizons for the development of our children’s musical skills. At the same time, the new equipment significantly improves our school’s daily operations, enabling us to better meet the needs of both our students and our teachers.
The support from the Greek America Foundation serves as both an inspiration and a testament that the Greek diaspora continues supporting education and the younger generations in Greece. We sincerely thank them for this touching initiative, which contributes meaningfully towards the shaping of a modern and dynamic school environment.

Με βαθιά ευγνωμοσύνη και χαρά, η εκπαιδευτική κοινότητα του 7ου Πειραματικού Δημοτικού Σχολείου Χανίων εκφράζει τις θερμές της ευχαριστίες προς το Greek America Foundation και τον ιδρυτή του, Greg Pappas, για τη γενναιόδωρη δωρεά τους προς το σχολείο μας.
Η πολύτιμη αυτή συνεισφορά περιλαμβάνει ένα πιάνο, διάφορα μουσικά όργανα, έναν εκτυπωτή, ένα τηλέφωνο, δύο διαδραστικούς πίνακες και δύο tablet, καλύπτοντας ουσιαστικές ανάγκες του σχολείου μας και προσφέροντας στους μαθητές μας νέες ευκαιρίες μάθησης και δημιουργικής έκφρασης.

Μέσα από τη μουσική και την τεχνολογία, οι μαθητές μας αποκτούν νέες δεξιότητες, καλλιεργούν τη φαντασία και τη δημιουργικότητά τους και έχουν τη δυνατότητα να συμμετέχουν σε καινοτόμες εκπαιδευτικές δραστηριότητες που ενισχύουν τη μαθησιακή τους εμπειρία.
Οι διαδραστικοί πίνακες και τα tablets εκσυγχρονίζουν τη διδασκαλία, καθιστώντας τη μάθηση πιο ζωντανή, προσιτή και διαδραστική, ενώ τα μουσικά όργανα και το πιάνο ανοίγουν νέους ορίζοντες για την ανάπτυξη των μουσικών δεξιοτήτων των παιδιών μας. Παράλληλα, ο νέος τεχνολογικός εξοπλισμός βελτιώνει σημαντικά την καθημερινή λειτουργία του σχολείου, επιτρέποντάς μας να ανταποκριθούμε καλύτερα στις ανάγκες των μαθητών και των εκπαιδευτικών μας.
Η υποστήριξη του Greek America Foundation αποτελεί για εμάς έμπνευση και απόδειξη ότι η ελληνική διασπορά συνεχίζει να στηρίζει την εκπαίδευση και τις νέες γενιές στην Ελλάδα.
