The Greek America Foundation is proud to announce that Apostolos Chantzaras, one of Greece’s most celebrated living artists, has generously donated two original paintings to support the silent auction at the 2025 Gabby Awards in New York City.
Chantzaras’ vibrant, emotionally charged works have been exhibited internationally and are highly sought after by collectors around the world. His paintings have fetched thousands of dollars at auction, and his distinctive style—at once modern, folkloric, and deeply Hellenic—has earned him a reputation as a defining voice in contemporary Greek art.
For the Gabby Awards silent auction, Chantzaras has donated two remarkable pieces:
- “Hero and Dragon” – A powerful reinterpretation of the classic Saint George motif, rendered in vivid reds and golds. The piece captures the raw energy and symbolism of heroism, faith, and the eternal struggle between good and evil, all expressed through Chantzaras’ unmistakable brushwork and layered iconographic influences.
- “A Flower for You” – A luminous and joy-filled still life bursting with color and emotion. Anchored by a cobalt blue vase overflowing with wild blooms, the painting blends whimsy and romance with urban notes—featuring hand-drawn text and symbols that hint at the artist’s connection to both New York City and universal themes of love and longing.
These two pieces are not only exceptional examples of Chantzaras’ visual language, but also powerful symbols of the artist’s support for Greek America’s cultural and philanthropic mission.
