Since 2013, with the support of donors throughout the United States and Canada, the Greek America Foundation has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for worthwhile charities and individuals in Greece through our Project Hope for Greece campaign.
In addition to numerous beneficiary charities, we’ve rebuilt fishing boats for fisherman, provided tons of food and helped thousands of disenfranchised people through various programs.
Our new campaign will run from 2019-2021 and aims to alleviate difficulties faced by the most vulnerable members of today’s Greek society — the children.
The power of Project Hope for Greece comes from the creativity and generosity of our supporters. We need your help in order to provide hope for the #ChildrenOfGreece.
Become an Ambassador of Hope in two ways
(1) Donate a minimum of $1,000 and become an Ambassador of Hope immediately (Click here to donate)
(2) Raise a minimum of $1,000 by donating your birthday or hosting an event (Click here to make your pledge)
If you elect to raise a minimum of $1000, you get to choose how you will do so, but we’re here to help. Our team is trained on event-planning consulting and we will send you materials about the charities, as well as a stash of our signature “I Love GR” pins that you can share with your guests.
In past years our Ambassadors of Hope have hosted events at home or even full-fledged dinner dances and epic parties. Many people have also donated their birthdays while several of our entrepreneurial supporters organized fundraisers around product launches or promotions.
Corporate attorneys have hosted board-room lunches and after-work receptions, while artists have organized exhibitions with proceeds from sales going to Project Hope for Greece.
Several of our restaurant-owning supporters have organized charity nights with a percentage of proceeds from a particular night going to our charities.

In 2013, a team of young filmmakers from Toronto led by brothers Dimitri and Vasili Manikas made a short film whose screening proceeds raised $4,000 for Project Hope for Greece.
Ontario-based wine importer and distributor Steve Kriaris of Kolonaki Group created a promotion to donate $1 to Project Hope for every bottle sold during a particular month. More than $4000 was raised.
New York-based Broadway star George Psomas (photo below, left) hosted his 30th birthday for Project Hope and raised more than $4,000 from donations by family and friends that he requested, in lieu if gifts.
Longtime Foundation supporters Nora Presti and Anthie Zairis hosted a fundraiser in Baltimore that netted almost $10,000 and engaged their entire church community to come together and learn about the charities that Project Hope was supporting and build awareness about the problems facing Greek society.
