Thousands of people throughout the world won’t be able to travel to Greece this summer because of restrictions in place and people’s unease about international travel in the wake of the global Coronavirus pandemic.
As a result, we put our creative heads together and reached out to some friends across the Atlantic. We decided that we wanted to do our part to try and bring a bit of Greece to you this summer, no matter where on earth you might be.
We’re partnering with Glykeria, known throughout the world as “The Voice of Greece” and one of that nation’s most popular singers. She’s is currently in the studio with her talented team of musicians recording a new, contemporary version of a traditional Greek island song called “Mes’ Tou Aigiou Ta Nera” (In the Aegean’s Waters) that will be released on YouTube for the first time on June 21, 2020 — officially the first day of summer.
With this project called #ElladaSagapo (Greece, I love you), we’re expressing our love for Greece — wherever we were born and no matter where we live now.
The song will premiere on YouTube on June 21 as a video clip which includes a streaming mosaic gallery of dozens upon dozens of crowd-sourced photographs from throughout the world portraying people’s favorite shots of their holidays in Greece.
Everyone who submits a photo does so along with a minimum donation of $100 per photo.
The funds we raise from the campaign will be used to purchase PPE (personal protective equipment) supplies for Greek island hospitals, as designated by the Greek Ministry of Health and where the greatest need exists.
We can only accept 120 photographs that will be incorporated into the official song video which will be viewed by thousands of people across the world as an official release by Glykeria.
After the video is released, we will continue to accept photographs and donations (at any amount) which will appear in an infinite scroll gallery on our website. The gallery will remain on our website in perpetuity.
And the icing on the cake — the more photos we receive, the more funds we raise for Greek island hospitals and a longer scroll we have of beautiful crowd-sourced photos of Greece from throughout the world.
Complete the form below to make your donation ($100 USD minimum per photo submitted). After we receive your generous gift, you’ll receive an email with a link to submit your photo(s).
